Today I was just thinking about Pokémon. This fad started back when I was like... in third or fourth grade. I'm in my first year of college right now. That's roughly ten years. Ten long years.
Back when it came out, I watched the show religiously. Hell, I have recorded from the first season up to the start of the Johto season, before I stopped. It's in a bunch of videocassettes in a box in my room. =) I have all the games for the N64. I even have all the games up to Ruby and Sapphire for the Gameboy. (Missing Pinball though. Knew most of, if not all, the cheats on these things.) This is around where my obsession died. I was too busy, or just too irritated, but I never finished Sapphire of the Ruby/Sapphire set. I never even got a Gamecube of my own for the Darkness series. [Well, there's a Gamecube at home, but it's my little brother's and he's possessive.] Anyway, it's a bit depressing.
Oh yea, I had a ton of trading cards, along with all the movies until they stopped making them in videocassettes. xD I even wrote a fanfic about this! It was a girl from our world, who made a wish. The wish came true, and she ended up in the Pokéworld. Never managed to finish it though.
I could sing, almost perfectly, from memory, the Pokérap for the first 150 and the latter 100. I could also do all the openings, full-length, not the shortened on TV. I still kind of can, just need tune accompaniment. Hell, I could watch like, clips of an episode and tell you what happens in the whole thing. Never again, though.
It occurred to me today that it's finally time to say good-bye and lay down my Pokédex. It was time to formally leave all the types of Pokémon behind. I mean, I just sort of left everything behind, but it's nice to actually acknowledge it. These things don't have a place int he world I am finding myself deeper in everyday, but they will always be a fond memory of my heart.
To the first 150 and 1 Pokémon, I'll catch y'all later. =)
